PM: Russia can see record high harvest of grain 2016–17 year
ASTRAKHAN, Sep 2 (PRIME) -- Russia can have the highest grain harvest in its entire history in the 2016–2017 agricultural year, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said at a meeting with farmers on Friday.
“We can expect quite decent results, maybe, I do not want to say too early but these will be the results of a really high level over the last decades, maybe over the entire history because the harvest which has been already collected in some regions, if we talk about the crop, the grains, it has been unparalleled, there has been nothing like it ever before,” Medvedev said.
The Agriculture Ministry’s grain harvest forecast for 2016 is 110 million tonnes, and up to 113–116 million tonnes if the weather is good.
